Despite facilitations in the handling of goods in personal luggage, you cannot carry all goods and products without restriction in cross-border travel. The customs authorities shall monitor and carry out appropriate controls on imports and prohibitions.

Private imports are subject to prohibitions and restrictions in particular in the following areas:

• Species conservation;
• Drug;
• Narcotic;
• Firework;
• dangerous dogs (fighting dogs);
• Food;
• counterfeit goods (piracy);
• sanitary plant protection (e.g. potatoes);
• writings with unconstitutional content;
• protection of public order (e.g. pornography);
• animal health law (pets, animal products);
• Weapons and ammunition (sporting weapons, hunting weapons, prohibited items).
