Applying for funding for youth hostels

Description

You can receive funding from the Federal Employment Agency for the conversion, modernisation, extension, new construction and equipment of a youth hostel. It can support your project either as a pro rata interest subsidy or as a pro rata one-off grant.

You can receive funding for the following measures:

Conversions and modernization work such as:
- Thermal insulation and other energy-saving measures
  - Note: Excluded are measures that can also generate revenue (for example, solar systems or combined heat and power plants, which also feed the electricity into the public grid).
- Elimination of structural defects
- Improvement of the layout and functional processes of the apartments
- Sound insulation measures
- improvement of water supply and sanitation,
- Improving the power supply
- Accessibility measures
- Internet access
- Fire protection measures
- Implementation of safety standards
New building
Extension of a dormitory
new equipment

Special features for the respective type of grant:

Interest subsidy

You can get an interest subsidy to reduce the cost of a loan. The responsible operational service at the Bochum Employment Agency will be happy to explain the concrete calculation of the subsidy amount to you.

One-off grant

The amount of the subsidy is 35 percent and in special cases a maximum of 40 percent. The funding is limited in time.

Process flow

The application for funding for your youth hostel will be sent to you by the Bochum Employment Agency. Please contact (by telephone or electronically) the Operative Service of the Bochum Employment Agency. The Bochum Employment Agency is your competent partner for all questions regarding funding.
You can submit the application within the deadline, even informally, to any other employment agency in Germany. This will then forward your application to your contact person.
As soon as all documents have been submitted and your application has been decided, you will receive a notification by post about the approval or rejection of a donation.

Requirements

You can receive funding for a youth hostel from the Federal Employment Agency if you want to build, convert or modernise a dormitory for trainees in in-company vocational training. The following prerequisites apply:

You have to run the youth hostel yourself.
You may only operate the facility to cover your costs.
A commercial operation aimed at a profit is not permitted.
They accept trainees from every industry and everyone on an equal footing.
They grant trainees a discount of 10 percent in the dormitory if they receive vocational training allowance.
You are eligible for funding if you, as the sponsor of the dormitory,
- a legal person, or
- an association of independent welfare services, or
- are a non-profit association.
Their total costs are at least EUR 100,000.
You must not have started the construction or conversion work yet, unless the Employment Agency has allowed an exception in your case.
There is a long-term need for your youth dormitory places for trainees.
They contribute an appropriate own contribution.
Your overall financing is secured.
If you want to offer new equipment, this must be related to a construction project in order to be funded.
