Weapons and ammunition Applying for a permit if a collection is continued by heirs

Description

If you inherit a culturally and historically significant or scientific-technical collection of weapons or ammunition and want to continue this collection, you need a permit for this. Upon request, you can have the acquisition and possession of missing collection items approved.

Requirements

You have reached the age of 18.
They are reliable within the meaning of the Weapons Act.
They are personally suitable within the meaning of the Weapons Act.
You are knowledgeable within the meaning of the Weapons Act.
The testator was the holder of a permit under § 17 of the Weapons Act.
You are the acquirer of a collection within the meaning of § 17 of the Weapons Act as a result of an inheritance.
You have had a blocking system installed for firearms requiring a permit, unless there is another need according to § 8 and §§ 13 ff. WaffG.

Which documents are required?

Proof of acquisition as a result of an inheritance, e.g. right to inherit, certificate of inheritance
Proof of your expertise
Proof of sufficient collection status
Proof that your weapons and/or ammunition are safely stored
if necessary, proof of the installation of a blocking system

What are the fees?

Administration fee: EUR 150

What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?

Period of validity of the employment permit: usually indefinite

Please contact your county's weapons department. If you live in Dessau-Roßlau, please also contact the weapons authority.

If you live in Halle or Magdeburg, please contact the respective police headquarters.

You can obtain permission as follows:

You submit an application and submit the necessary documents
the required documents will be checked, if necessary you must submit further required documents later
Your age, your reliability, your personal suitability
Your expertise and your need will be checked (§ 4 paragraph 1 numbers 1 to 4 WaffG) and, if necessary, the presence of a blocking system
the decision on weapons law is made.
