Submit application for continued housing allowance

Description

Housing allowance is usually granted for 12 months. To ensure that you continue to receive housing benefit after 12 months without interruption, you should submit a new application in good time. When you do so, the housing allowance authority will check the conditions for your entitlement again.

Requirements

You have enough income to pay for your living expenses, but not housing expenses
You go to work but donot earnenough
You do not have enough moneyas a pensioner or resident of a nursing home for the elderly
As a student , you arenot entitled to BAfÖG or receive it as a full loan.
You receive unemployment benefit or short-time allowance

Which documents are required?

Identity card, passport or certificate of residence with confirmation of registration
Rental contract or the documents about the costs of the residential property you are using residential property, if you are the owner
current rent receipt (bank statement or proof of payment)
last change of rent
cold water statement
proof of income (salary statement, pension statement)
Notices of social benefits (for example, unemployment benefit, short-time allowance)

What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?

In order for your application to be processed in a timely manner, you should submit your application 2 months prior to the end of the grant period.

Example: Your housing allowance expires on 3/31. Then submit the application on approximately 1.2.

Process flow

You yourself, as the person entitled to housing benefit, must submit the application.

After checking your income and costs, you will be granted the housing allowance if you are entitled to it.

You will be notified in writing of the approval and the amount of the payment.

What else should I know?

If your financial situation or living circumstances have changed, this may also result in a reduction of the housing allowance.

You are obliged to notify the housing allowance authority immediately of any changes that may lead to a reduction in the housing allowance. To ensure that you do not wrongly receive housing allowance, the housing allowance authority regularly checks the household members by means of a so-called data comparison.
