Real trade licenses are authorizations to carry out a trade associated with the ownership of a specific property. New ones may no longer be established since 1869 (§ 10 Para. 2 GewO).

A real trade license that has not been exercised for three years expires. This period may be extended by the licensing authority if there is good cause.
