Admit journeymen to the examination before the end of the training period

Description

As an apprentice, you can be admitted to the journeyman's examination before the end of your training period.

The purpose of the journeyman's examination is to determine whether you have acquired the professional ability to act. The examination is usually taken at the end of your training period.

The chairperson of the examination board will decide whether your performance justifies early admission. If the admission requirements are found not to be met, the examination board will decide in the second instance.

Prerequisites

above-average grades on the last vocational school report with confirmation from the vocational school
above-average performance in the training company with confirmation from the training company
all knowledge and skills can be imparted to you by the early date of the journeyman's examination/confirmation by the training company
Keeping the prescribed report books / training records
The minimum training period must not be less than
- 12 months for a 2-year training period
- 18 months for a 3-year training period
- 24 months for a 3.5-year training period

Application form
Last vocational school certificate(s) issued
Intermediate examination certificate
Confirmation from the training company that the trainee has performed above average so far and that all knowledge and skills can be imparted to him/her by the early date of the final examination
written statement from the vocational school on the trainee's performance level
Proof of participation in the prescribed inter-company instruction courses
prescribed report booklets/training certificates

Fees (costs)

The examination is free of charge for the apprentice (trainee).

Deadlines

You must submit your application in good time, taking into account the respective examination deadlines.

Processing time

As a rule, your admission will be checked within three to six weeks.

Responsible body

Contact the chamber responsible for your vocational training. This can be

- the Chamber of Skilled Crafts for vocational training in professions under the Crafts Code,

- the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for vocational training in non-trade occupations,

- the Chamber of Agriculture for vocational training in agricultural and rural domestic science professions

- the Chamber of Lawyers, Patent Attorneys and Notaries as well as the Notary's Office for the vocational training of specialists in the field of law,

- the Chamber of Auditors and the Chamber of Tax Consultants for the vocational training of professionals in the field of auditing and tax consultancy,

- the Chambers of Physicians, Dentists, Veterinarians and Pharmacists for the vocational training of healthcare professionals.

Procedure

As the examinee, complete the application and submit it together with the required documents.

The application and the documents will be checked for completeness.

The chairperson of the examination board decides on admission. In the event of non-admission, the examination board will decide in the second instance.

You will then be informed of your admission and, if applicable, your examination date. You will receive a notification.

Further information

Trainees must be released from work to take examinations. The trainee's training allowance will continue to be paid for the period of leave of absence.
People with disabilities should indicate their special needs when registering for the final examination so that these can be taken into account when the final examination is conducted.
Trainees who have taken parental leave must not be disadvantaged by this when deciding on admission.
