Apply for a birth certificate for home birth

Description

On the basis of the certification made in the birth register, you can obtain a birth certificate for the home birth on application.

Required documents

in the case of parents who are married to each other
- Birth certificates
- Marriage certificate or a certified copy from the marriage register
for parents who are not married to each other
- Birth certificate of the mother
- if paternity has already been acknowledged:
  - Declarations of acknowledgement of paternity
  - Birth certificate of the father
  - if applicable, the declarations of custody
identity card, passport or a recognised passport replacement document of the parents
a certificate of birth issued by a doctor or midwife or maternity nurse, provided they were present at the birth.

A marriage certificate must also be submitted if the marriage has been dissolved.

Deadlines

Notification of birth: within one week
- The day of birth shall not be included in the calculation of the notification period.
- If a child is stillborn or dies in childbirth, the notification must be made no later than the third working day following the birth.
Subsequent notification of the name: within one month

Responsible body

The jurisdiction lies with the municipality and the city in whose jurisdiction the child was born. As a rule, this task is incumbent on the registry office.
