Apply for a designation as a testing centre for sewage sludge investigations in waste management

Description

If you want to carry out analyses in accordance with the Sewage Sludge Ordinance, you must apply to the competent authority to notify (determine) you as an investigation body. The notification is valid for the whole of Germany.

Prerequisites

The requirements of the waste module for the administrative agreement on the proof of competence and the notification of testing laboratories and measuring points (testing centres) in the environmental sector regulated by waste law are met. You have submitted the application in the country where you have your headquarters. If they are located abroad, submit the application in the country in which you want to carry out this activity as a priority.

If necessary, further documents must be provided after further inquiries from the competent authority. If you are active nationwide, the authority may require that you submit a valid accreditation for compliance with the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005, which refers to the parameters and examination procedures according to Annex 2 AbfKlärV.

Processing time

The examination of the application for notification of an investigating body must be completed within three months; § 42a paragraph 2 sentences 2 to 4 of the Administrative Procedure Act (VwVfG) applies.

Procedure

You submit an informal application for notification to the authority of the country in which you have your head office as an inspection body for sewage sludge inspections. Attach the required documents. If necessary, the authority will request further application documents. After examination by the competent body, you will receive a written notification as to whether the notification is being made as an investigating body. The Authority may attach to the notification a reservation of revocation, a time limit, conditions, obligations and the reservation of conditions.
