Apply for certificate evaluation of foreign higher education qualifications for recognition in the higher education sector

Description

A certificate evaluation is an official document issued by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB).

The certificate evaluation is issued in the form of a certificate. You will receive this certificate in a short version and a long version. It states the level of the German educational qualification to which your foreign qualification is comparable.

It also informs you of the options you have for continuing your studies.

The ZAB only issues a certificate for completed higher education courses.

The certificate assessment is only a comparative classification. It does not replace recognition.

With the ZAB certificate, you can prove to the university that you have a university degree. Ultimately, however, the university decides whether you are admitted to the course.

The degree certificate of the higher education qualification to be assessed in the original language
The overview of subjects and grades for the entire course of study
The Diploma Supplement in the standardized European form (if issued)
A German translation of your documents

EUR 200.00 for your 1st application

EUR 100.00 for each additional application

Procedure

You submit a written application to the ZAB. The ZAB will then send you a notification of fees by e-mail.

As soon as you have paid the fee, your application will be processed.

You will receive a certificate from the ZAB. This certificate contains a short version and a long version. You can enclose the short version with your application documents. You can use the long version if you require extensive information.

Further information

The certificate evaluation is particularly suitable for non-regulated professions. You need recognition for regulated professions.

Legal basis

The federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany have commissioned the ZAB with this task. The ZAB issues certificate assessments for higher education qualifications from all countries of the world.
