Under certain conditions, severely disabled people are granted permission to park in places where this is not normally permitted. Eligible persons can also use the parking concessions as a passenger. A driver's license is not required.

In Saxony-Anhalt, 3 different parking permits are issued and recognized:

• The "Blue Parking Permit" (EU-wide)
• The "Orange parking permit" (nationwide)
• The "White Parking Permit" (only in Saxony-Anhalt)

The blue parking permit:

This parking permit is issued for people with an exceptional walking disability or for blind people. With this parking permit, you can park in a disabled parking space (parking spaces with a wheelchair symbol) in all EU member states. You also receive the following concessions with this parking permit:

• parking for up to three hours in restricted no-parking zones (signs 286, 290)
• Parking in traffic-calmed areas under certain conditions
• Parking in residents' parking spaces
• Free parking in paid parking zones

The orange parking permit:

This parking permit is issued to severely disabled people who do not meet the requirements for the blue parking permit. However, the requirements are still met.

With this parking permit, you are not allowed to park in the disabled parking spaces. However, you have the following concessions:

• parking for up to three hours in restricted no-parking zones (signs 286, 290)
• Parking in traffic-calmed areas under certain conditions
• Parking in residents' parking spaces
• Free parking in paid parking zones

The white parking permit:

This parking permit is issued to people who have temporary (up to 6 months) functional limitations of the lower limbs. They receive the same concessions as the blue parking permit.
