You can obtain a residence permit for recognition of your foreign professional qualification if you have been placed in employment on the basis of an agreement between the Federal Employment Agency and the employment services in your country of origin. In the health and care sector, such an agreement is, for example, the "Triple Win" program for the placement of care workers.

Before you receive your residence permit, you do not have to take care of the recognition procedure in Germany. You can also start the recognition procedure after your arrival in Germany. The required procedure is regulated in the placement agreement. The Federal Employment Agency ensures that the applicants preselected in the placement agreement are recruited in countries with an appropriate standard of training.

The Federal Employment Agency must have approved the employment in the desired occupational field. The approval of the Federal Employment Agency is granted for a limited period of one year. You can apply for approval to work

• in regulated professions in the health and care sector and
• in other selected regulated and non-regulated professions

receive.

Regulated professions are professions for which you must acquire special professional qualifications. This is the case, for example, as a doctor, architect or pharmacist. You can find out whether your profession is regulated in Germany, which laws govern it and which body you need to contact to check your qualifications in the information portal "Recognition in Germany".

The Federal Employment Agency will approve your employment if the work is related to the professional knowledge of the occupation you wish to have recognized after entering Germany. A professional connection is given if, for example, you want to have your qualification as a paediatric nurse recognized and want to work as a nursing assistant during the recognition procedure.

You must also make a declaration that you will carry out the procedure to determine equivalence or, in the case of regulated professions, to obtain a license to practice the profession after entering Germany.

The residence permit entitles you to work up to 20 hours a week, independent of the professional qualification to be recognized.
