If a deceased person has been inherited by several people, the law does not allocate different items to each individual. All heirs share in the deceased's assets in proportion to their share of the estate. The estate belongs to the heirs jointly. No co-heir can dispose of an item alone. The cooperation of all heirs is always required. All heirs together form the so-called community of heirs.

Settlement of the estate
If the estate is to be divided, the heirs must agree on the division. If no agreement is reached, this must be clarified in the distribution of the estate. This must be applied for at the probate court. The estate items or their proceeds are distributed among the co-heirs in such a way that each receives as much as corresponds to their share in the community of heirs.
