If you want to acquire, rebuild or modernize residential property, various government funding programs are available to you:

Refurbishment of vacant living space

As the owner, you can receive a subsidy for the modernisation and repair of vacant and partially vacant residential buildings in Saxony-Anhalt. This amounts to 50% of the eligible expenses, but a maximum of EUR 10,000 per residential unit.

In particular, the following are funded:

• Repair and modernisation
• Change of apartment layout
• The correction of structural defects
• Noise protection
• Thermal insulation
• Barrier-free access

These subsidised apartments are subject to fixed rental prices and occupancy.

Elevator program

If you want to have your residential property converted barrier-free, you can receive a subsidy for certain measures. The grant amounts to 50% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of EUR 10,000 per housing unit. Eligible actions include, for example:

• Retrofitting or improvement of elevator systems
• Installation of stair lifts

Housing modernization

If you are a carrier of investments in residential buildings, you have the opportunity to get a low-interest loan for housing modernization. The residential buildings are to be rebuilt under the aspects of age-appropriate living (multi-generational living and accessibility) and climate protection. In addition to self-used and rented residential buildings, buildings that have not yet been used for non-residential purposes are also eligible for funding.

Formation of residential property

For the creation and acquisition of residential property, you can also receive a low-interest loan up to a maximum of 65,000 EUR. To do this, you must be at least 2 household members and your income may not exceed the income limit according to the Housing Promotion Act by more than 80%.
