Apply for extension of driver's license for class B

Description

With the class B driver's license, you can drive motor vehicles that have a maximum permissible total mass of 3.5 t and are designed on site for no more than 8 people (in addition to the driver's seat).

You can transport trailers weighing less than 750 kg with the class B driver's license. If the total mass of the vehicle combination is maximum 3.5 t, the trailer may also weigh more than 750 kg.

The class B driving license is issued for an unlimited period of time.

Prerequisites

You must be in possession of a driving license class.
You must have your main residence in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The minimum age is 18 years. You can apply for the extension of the driving license at the earliest 6 months before reaching the minimum age.

Required documents

valid identity card or passport (if necessary with current certificate of residence)
Application for the extension of the driving license
a biometric photo according to the passport regulation (size 45x35 mm)
eye test certificate (not older than two years)
proof of training in first aid (if not already proven to the driving license authority)
valid driver's license
if necessary, a copy of the card from the last issuing authority (if different)
