To ensure that trees are preserved, they require special protection - especially in heavily populated areas.

If you want to cut down a tree, a permit may be required. If necessary, you may have to provide compensation for the felled tree. A felling permit is particularly necessary if trees are subject to special protection.

If a tree is protected as a "protected landscape feature" in a built-up area or within an avenue, you must apply for a special permit to cut it down.
